Students from the University of Applied Science Utrecht are learning about SSI and Web 3.0.

Animo is creating a course on the open, trustless and permissionless evolution of the internet, Web 3.0. In this course, students will learn about Self-sovereign Identity, AR/VR, Open-source, Artificial Intelligence and other subjects that together make up Web 3.0.

Web 3.0, also known as the decentralized web, is the next generation of internet infrastructure, applications and services. This internet is built to be more open, smart and autonomous than Web 2.0. According to Karim Stekelenburg, who is designing the course. “Web 3.0 is the future. Thirty years ago people weren’t prepared for what was coming with the arrival of the internet, I want the students of today to know what is going to be possible in the future, so they can take part in building it.”

The development of new and ground-breaking technologies is going faster than ever, while education sometimes can hardly seem to catch up. The HU University of Applied Sciences offers a minor in Blockchain that actively moves against this trend by constantly evolving and keeping up to date. As a part of the 2021/2022 courses, Animo is letting students experience Web 3.0. The students will learn about the technologies and vision underlying the new developments, as well as practical implementations and Web 3.0 companies.
